With all of the recent cyber-attacks occurring on networks, enterprises have to be on guard around the clock. As the kinds of attacks become more sophisticated, one provider, NSFocus, has upgraded its products.
The company provides network security products – such as those which protect enterprises against distributed denial of service attacks. Its Anti DDoS System protects data centers, Metropolitan Area Networks, Internet service providers (ISP), backbone networks and enterprises. It provides anomaly recognition, anti-spoofing and source verification, according to a company statement.
“We’ve really seen a very significant rise in the types of attacks, the numbers of attack, the volumes, so we’ve really been focusing on that product over the last couple of years,” Vann T. Abernethy, product manager at NSFocus, said in a recent video interview with TMC’s CEO Rich Tehrani at Interop 2012.
Its products not only address the attacks, but allow important business operations to continue as the attack is resolved.
The kinds of attacks have been changing too. “It’s going after your server,” Abernethy explained. “It’s knocking your database over… There’s a higher degree of sophistication in the attacks.”
NSFocus says it has solved over 30 security vulnerabilities for companies such as Microsoft, Sun and Cisco. It offers services and appliances for a diverse size of companies, from small- and medium-sized enterprises, all the way to service providers.
Among its products is the Web Application Firewall (WAF), which protects Web applications and data and lets organizations comply with government and industry regulations, such as the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
NSFocus also offers a Network Intrusion Prevention System (NIPS). It can identify, classify and eliminate malicious traffic and network threats, company officials said.
In response to demand for its products, the company – based in Beijing, China – is expanding. It has already reached customers in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and it is now extending to locations in North America, according to a recent report from TMCnet.
The firm currently operates over 30 branches and it has over 1,000 employees. Its customer base includes managed service providers, independent service providers, cloud providers and telcos.
